New indie label startup OK!Good Records is proud to announce the North American release of “Oftentimes,” the debut album from the seven piece English pop-rock outfit, A Genuine Freakshow. The album will be available on iTunes, Amazon and at major retailers on Tuesday, April 24th. However, impatient fans don’t have to wait for the official release date to hear the album. OK!Good Records has pre-released the album on their website (http://www.okgoodrecords.com), where it can be streamed for free and also purchased.
“Oftentimes” is the first full length to come from A Genuine Freakshow, who have already begun to make a name for themselves in the UK with a tremendously unique sound that takes a traditional approach to pop songwriting but colors it with a dynamic pallet of orchestral timbres. Now that their music is crossing the pond, the band finds themselves in comparison to other indie rock American favorites such as Arcade Fire and Of Monsters and Men who have a similar knack for the tastefully grandiose. Yet, A Genuine Freakshow have truly found their sweet spot and carved out their own niche, creating a style of music that is intricate but unafraid of big melodies, as witnessed throughout the album and in particular on the lead track, “I Can Feel His Heartbeats” and the forthcoming single “Hopscotch Machine Gun Madness.”
Throughout the past year A Genuine Freakshow have been touring relentlessly, building a word-of-mouth fan base that saw them host a sell-out night at London’s Bush Hall alongside over 80 headline shows up and down the UK. With a line-up that adds violin, cello and trumpet to the standard rock four-piece of guitar, bass, drums and vocals, live shows are a demonstration of how to do epic without slipping into pompous.
